Compare Versions
Goal
Use comparison when you want to understand how a saved Configuration version differs from the current version before you reuse, edit, share, or restore it.
What comparison supports
The shared Revision history screen compares a selected saved version with the current version of the same Configuration.
Comparison is between the selected saved version and the current version shown on the screen.
Compare a version with current
- Open the Configuration's History screen.
- In Saved revisions, choose an older version.
- Select Compare.
- Review Change details.
The screen shows text like Selected version v2 compared with current version v5. If no differences are found, WebHammers shows No differences were found between the selected revision and the current revision.
Understand the change summary
The comparison area can show these counts:
| Count | What it means | What to check |

| Total changes | The total number of differences detected between the selected version and the current version. | Check whether the number is larger or smaller than expected. |
| Changed settings | Details that exist in both versions but have different values. | Review Field selections, Rules, output settings, and other Configuration details that affect Runs. |
| Added details | Details that exist in the current version but not in the selected version. | Confirm whether newer Fields, Rules, or settings should remain in use. |
| Removed details | Details that exist in the selected version but not in the current version. | Confirm whether restoring the older version would bring back something that was intentionally removed. |
If there are many differences, WebHammers may show only the first set of changes and tell you that additional differences are not shown.
Read the comparison table
Comparison results are grouped into sections such as Changed settings, Added details in current version, and Removed details from current version.
The comparison table includes:

| What changed | The setting, Field, Rule detail, or other Configuration detail that changed. |
| Selected version v# | The value in the older selected version. |
| Current version v# | The value in the current version. |
| Impact | A short label and note explaining how the selected version differs from current. |
Interpret impact labels
| Impact | What it means | What to check |

| Changed | The value is different in the selected version and the current version. | Decide which value is correct for future Runs. |
| Current only | The detail was added after the selected version. | Check whether the current version includes a newer Field, Rule, or setting that should not be lost. |
| Saved only | The detail exists only in the selected older version. | Check whether restoring would bring back an older detail intentionally removed later. |
For Filterer Configurations, comparison can show user-facing Rule changes such as Rule order, whether a Rule is enabled, Field, operator, comparison value, action, case sensitivity, and null handling. Other Tool Configurations may show a more general Configuration comparison.
What to check before acting on comparison results
Before you edit or restore based on a comparison, check:
- the selected version number
- the current version number
- the Saved by and Summary details
- changed Fields and Rules
- added details that may represent newer required work
- removed details that may represent older behavior
- whether sensitive-looking details are hidden
- whether the comparison says some differences are not shown
